i have had my apple ipad mini for a number of yers now. and tbh it is getting worse for me.
so i will be buying a new tablet computer in december.
i am thinking of buying the ipad air 2 ?
but does anyone have opinions for or against the apple products ?
and what could be the best non apple alternative.
i already have a big laptop so i dont need another.
any help with my next choice will be gladly welcome.
many thanks, jeff.

Exactly same here. 3rd gen old style iPad getting slower and slower. We all have iPhones and other iPads but mine is the only non lightning one.

Worth the outlay?

Re:

In the US, there are lots of deals on iPads for Christmas (UK retailers should also be offering discounts for the holidays). FWIW, I've bought a number of refurbished iPads from Apple's website over the years. They are reconditioned with new batteries, screens and the same 1 year warranty as new iPads. Except for the all white packaging, you couldn't tell the difference between a new and refurbished one. If you don't buy during the holidays, the only way to save significantly on an iPad is to go refurbished but for the next few weeks, the holiday sales make the new ones about the same price.

If you're still sitting with a first gen Mini, it would seem like you hold onto your electronics for a while. If true, you might want to wait until March. In March, Apple is rumored to launch a new iPad lineup = Mini, 12.9" Pro, and a new 10.5" size that is rumored to use smaller bezels to make it the same overall size as the current 9.7" model, despite the bigger screen. The whole lineup should get better screens and faster chips for the same list prices of the current lineup.

We got our 75 yr old mum an Ipad air 2 .Mum was starting with zero tech skills. I mean zero

6 months on its used for near everything, she hardly puts it down and the cats getting neglected

Re:

My mother in law was the same, could hardly use a normal mobile phone, none smart ;-) but a HUDL2 (stock Android 6 setup) and she was away, candy crush and everything.
Shame Tesco don't make tablets anymore. They did a really good job.
The things are now cheap, fast and is usable.

Air2 are good tablet but they're over two years old now and due for replacement. The Pro's over shadow them.
Luckily Apple do support them for a while.

Unfortunately my son's will be getting one for help at school, Shame they cannot wait but hey ho.

I'd personally still go Android, but you've already bought into the Apple eco system, so may as well pay the premium to stay there.
