Syncros stem year

Thinking of getting one of these for the stratos, just wondering what year the hinge front was introduced – most of the vintage syncros stuff I've sen before was gloss black and had a standard handlebar fixing.

Is this too new???

I now it's later than 94 now (checked the catalogue), but are we talking nearer 94 or nearer the turn of the century?

Had a look and its not there, so I reckon late nineties for this stem.

i have a syncros catalogue here from 1999. the stem is listed as "Hinged Mountain Quill Stem".

Since I remember them vaugly, it's probably mid/late 90's around the time the bent bar craze started. Made it easier to put them on.

Figure this is a bit too old for the Stratos then – being a 1990 frame.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for an original (non hinge) version.

Best bet...most of the hinged stuff is 97 and later.

I just bought one of those with the hinge on ebay for £23 all in. New.
