The top cap also covers up a great big hole at the top of the steerer that is primed to take lumps out of your face should you crash and eat the top of the stem. I suppose a nice round scar in your face is a talking point at the next dinner party though.

Right. I wasn't implying thats how I rolled. Big gaping holes within striking distance of my knees isnt my thing. it just seemed the OP was saying the auction is missing a piece of the item critical to its function.
