Syncros Stem and Ringle Bar. Read Description

he means the top cap,its only used to tension the aheadset and can safely be removed afterwards to save a few grams :)

I couldn't find a 1" star nut when building my slingshot, so I used a BMX Growler Headlock. Fits through the underside of the fork crown through the headset. Worked fine.

Still Stupid though

Why? After preloading the headset stack the top cap and bolt are essentially useless. The stem pinch bolts provide all the security.

Because if the stem cap isn't on the bike, it's gonna get lost and syncros caps are a bugger to get hold of.. CRC have a supply though!

The stem pinch bolts provide "most" of the security.

The top cap also covers up a great big hole at the top of the steerer that is primed to take lumps out of your face should you crash and eat the top of the stem. I suppose a nice round scar in your face is a talking point at the next dinner party though.
