Syncros Powerlite top cap removal tips?

Subject kinda says it. Sending my legs off for powder coating. Ideally need to get the top caps out. I saw @RockiMtn had the idea way back on a Powerlite thread of drilling a small hole in the centre, and I guess I could hook out the top cap via the hole. Then patch up the hole with some plastic weld prior to the rebuild? Or is there a better way? Any Powerlite Pros with any tips?

Is it possible to fit a thin blade under it and slowly work it out? I'd not be keen to drill a hole in it myself unless it's the only way.

I just gave it a try with a craft knife but the plastic started to give. Hmmm. Plan B is to try some super-sticky double sided (the thick gel tape) and see if that has enough “stick” to pull it out… please hold caller…

Is there anyway to pressurise the legs with air to pop them out into a rag?
