SWAP ONLY - 1992 Marin Eldridge Grade 19"

Senior Retro Guru
Having spent some time riding modern FS bikes recently, I've come to the realisation that if I ride the Marin the way I now want to ride, I'll end up trashing her and that's just a waste of a nice bike, considering how original she is. Much as I'd love to keep her, right now I can only afford to have one bike, so I'm potentially looking for a swap for a modern (2008-on) hardtail with cash adjustment dependent on value.

Requirements:
2008-on
Hydraulic discs
100mm minimum front travel, air forks preferred, alloy stanchions only.
18-19"

Something like a Boardman Comp or similar spec basically.

You'll notice a few differences in the spec list compared to the pics - the spec list is correct. After building her up, I changed the saddle, brake levers, shifters and tyres, but nothing else. The bike will receive a full stripdown, clean, degrease/regrease, new grips and cables before she goes, so will be ready to roll. The SPDs are staying with me, so she'll have her original XT platforms with clips.

I'm not looking to sell, and if nothing takes my fancy then I'll be keeping her! I will not split, and I'd rather she didn't go to anyone who will as she's almost 100% original. She's located in GU24 postcode, just outside Woking, Surrey.

Thanks.

Hi mate. I'm near you & have a Diamondback Repsonse 20". I'm only 5'10 & seems OK for me. Not sure of fork travel (I'm not a hardend bike-mad guy) but it's hydrolic brakes, fork lock-out (from handlebars). I bought it in April 2009 & used it quite a lot for the first 6-9 months & now it's been abandoned in favour of the old stuff 8) . It needs a cable for the lock-out & front pads. Same old story, it's needed these for a bout 6 months & due to not riding it, it's just been left. I've been talking about doing these & giving it a good polish, then putting it on Gumtree of similar. It's white with pink  writing (doesnt stand out at all). I've got no pictures of it but it's easy to find links.
Send me PM if you fancy a meet-up to check out each others rides

Kev

PS. I would never strip. I have a "nearly" original 94 Marin + a 95 Marin I'm building for the wife
