swap a DR350 for a Bandit? got the replacement!

been to see it this morning with a buddy who knows his stuff,

mechanically it is fine, stops, starts and does everything it is supposed to, it is completely standard and needs some tlc but is basically fine.

the only issue i have with the bike itself is the condition, it's not bad as such especially bearing in mind the age but as i get stuff painted all the time and there fore that stuff is mint i can't help but notice the scratches etc!

sad i know . . . suppose i could get bits painted, the wheels are easily stripped and powder coating those would be easy. the tank, fender and rear panels come off easily and again could be painted so that's the only grumble i have.

i will admit after seeing the bike i am leaning towards it.

it's taxed for a couple of months and has MOT till august next year so less tax than mine but longer MOT, so that evens out.

P reg, 600cc, 20,000 miles

against K plate 6,000 miles 390cc dirt bike

hmmm :?

teal blue i belive its called

remember that suzuki build quality isn't the best so a few scratches and chips is par for the course

I had the same Bandit (but in black) a few years back. They're fine but the main gripe I had was the lack of 'grunt', I px'd mine for the 1250sa a few years back. This one shifts! But it eats back tyres

decided to have the bandit,

phoned up the insurance company this morning to get a guide quote, very random that was, changing from the DR to the Bandit is an extra £75 (till may) but if i have a new policy for a year it's only £85!

how stupid is that?! and the girl on the phone couldn't believe it either, i asked for the year price only because i wanted to know the full year price as a guide for next year but then the penny dropped and she suggested i take the full year, it's all down the cancellation/change details fees.

:D

bandit

for what it's worth - i had a Bandit - paint on frame was abysmal. I'd also budget something for the front fork as the springs seem to get very tired after 30k miles.

the paint on the frame seems fine but there are a few scratches but nothing i wouldn't expect for the age of the bike (1997) but i think i'll get the body work painted and the wheels powdercoated anyway just to tidy it up then do a few mods etc, maybe go down the cafe racer style? i don't know we'll see what happens after i have been tooling around on it for a while.

:D

babdit

i had most probs with the frame paint especially the engine cradle part and mine was an 03 reg. perhaps earlier had better paintwork. mine was absolute abysmal.
