Suspension seatposts - are they any good?

I liked the action of the USE one I had. It still ended up scattered all over the garden though. The Alien clamp did for me. I have gone back to a rigid post now and the transition hasn't been as bad as I thought. Worth a try though.

I have a couple of USE suspension posts, never ridden a thudbuster or others.
I love the USE for taking the sting out of oversized stiff rear ended hardtails, like this:

Enjoy!!

I've got an old USE one an my Cyclo Cross bike, seems to be holding up ok. The only problem I find with it is that as you come to a techy bit of trail and get out of the saddle, the saddle also rises as the post is normally half compressed, which is a bit weird. :?

Does take a bit of chatter out of the trail though when you are trying to spin along.
