Suspension seatposts- any good??

Eyup,
I had the ON ONE out for its first serious run at the weekend. I usually plod around the local trails- 4-6 miles a couple of nights a week but turned up the wick at the weekend. On sat night I had a midnight blast of around 2 hours over the moors and then did the Dalby red route (24 miles) the next morning. With 5 miles to go my backside was killing me, i still walk funny now. Evereyone else in Dalby was on full sus (apart from a few hardtails inc a fully rigid clockwork) and it looked much easier on the old body when following them.
Now the problem is I love the Inbred, it was fantastic and I was suprised to find I could blast past anyone on anything (not too clever on the uphill parts but thats me not the bike) but i don't fancy the back ache and bruised arse every time i go out on a longer ride. So i am thinking about fitting a USE Carbon Shokpost. Are they any good or am I just a big wuss??

Cheers

I think it's something you've got to try yourself tbh - I found I didn't really get on with them (hence the spare use alien carbon in my seatpost pile...!) - just found I was out of the saddle whenever it'd have done much good. But I know some people swear by em...

Another thing to consider would be a large volume rear tyre with quite a low psi.

I'm running 2.35 High Rollers and tried lowering the pressure but it was a right drag on the faster parts.
The clamp on the old Alien post was a right pain but the new carbon shokpost has the new Sumo type clamp on it which works much better. I'm going to give one a try and see how I get on.
I don't want to go full suss as this is a winter bike and I cannot be bothered with the pivot fettling side of things, plus I love the handling of a good steel hardtail frame.
Thanks for the advice guys.

You could try the Thudbuster posts, a friend has used one of these for years and swears by it. I wasn't quite so keen as the leg to saddle distance changes a bit – he felt the same thing initially but has gotten used to it and now doesn't notice.

One things for sure I see him sat down far more in the bumpy stuff than the others in the crowd who ride hardtails
