Super tight ;)

Just got a new seatpost.
Previously I had a USE with a shim.
Tried to put the new seatpost (black) and its as tight as a ducks bum.
It goes in with much wiggling and greasing but it is taking off the black paint/anodising.
The seatpost is a 28.6. The bike is an x-lite Ti pro.
It has an alloy shim in it. It is the first time a new post has gone in in over 12 years.

Is this normal?

I don`t want to wreck a brand new seatpost.

Doesnt sound right to me.

Have you taken the shim out? It should say the size on it?

Just checked, no size on the shim.
I did speak with someone from x-lite who confirmed the size of the post as 28.6.
I also asked on here about the seatpost diameter and got the same answer.

Could the aluminium internal shim have been deformed by overtightening the seat clamp?

Yes definately a possibility with using a use and shim.

Does the slot in the seat tube get narrower towards the top?

If yes then you will need to gently lever it back out until it is the same all the way up.
