Yep. The 730 was the big, rounded beartrap. The 731 was a short-lived "squaretrap" with tall parallel-sided cages. The 735 came in two versions - one with a cartridge axle as pictured above, and the earlier model with a conventional axle and dustcap.

Quality wise the Suntours are way better than the XT's period. Love the old M735 XT parts but allways used Suntour XC pro or Campy pedals.
Still have 3 sets of xc pro's in the shed after I switched to Spuds..... keep 'm there for whenever I'll change my mind :D
 
The XC Pros are so much classier and better quality. Wider, smoother spinning, nicer bodies and cages, better toe flips, grease guard. The XTs aren't bad, but the XC Pros are a cut above.

think i want a set of PD-M730s. they look much wider and a bigger platform for your feet. is that true?

anyone have a set? may be willing to swap with my set of PD-735s.
