I have always used a 122.5 BB for std (non micro drive) cranks so might be worth verifying what it is you need.

Pretty certain original XC Pro cranks (non MD) require a 125.5mm BB, not 122.5.

Cheers,
BB

XC Pro 'normal' would use in Shimano cartridge equivelant 122.5mm
XC Comp 'normal' would use in Shimano cartridge eqiuv. 127.5mm

I can tell you that for a fact.
ref 1991 suntour specs catalouge
XC-Pro axle marking is D-3SB-GG
XC-Comp is D-3TS
axle marking gives you all the specs.
then useing Barnetts (in cghapter 10) to look up interchangability bits for shimano cartridge equivs.

But they where XC Comp MD iirc ;)

That may well be the case.

You see, I made the mistake of presuming you wouldn't be committing the greatest of sins and mixing Shimano BB with Suntour chainset...

Should you have been using the 'CORRECT' Suntour BB for a set of non-MD (XP-1) cranks, the width would be as I suggested 125.5.

Tschh, kids...

I did give you Suntours lengths above, just never typed out the measurement ;)
Talking 68mm shells
XC Comp
3SB (XP00), which is bolt type, 121.5mm

XC Comp
3TS (XC01) would be 128.5mm

Though as Suntour didn't conform to the JIS taper it is what makes (I can only assume) them longer that you would expect and so the XP00's 3SB is as you say 125.5mm. Though all the extra length seems to be on the none drive side from detailed specs. <shrugs>
Meaning the XC Comp should be longer still ;)

Again all pointless, as it was a MicroDrive chainset. :D which is 115mm in suntour world (113mm in Shimano cartridge world using D-3L marking apparently)

so just to confirm, as i have never owned a suntour XC comp microdrive chainset (which arrived this morning) and is lovely,

i need a 115? and does it HAVE to be suntour? i don't like to mix brands in this way but i am guessing i BB will be harder to source than some of the other parts.

also thanks to Fc for the SJS link

jonnyboy, I added the Simano equivalent as they actually use the roadie bottom bracket SL00 / SL10 in Suntour world, which has a marking so has an equivalent.

Try what you have start 113 or 118 and adjust from that. While the taper are not technically JIS, JIS is a excellent fit :)
I use a 116 currently.

Suntours chainline spec is probably 47.5 or 47 as that what it was for the ATB sized one's
Though they spec no grease on tapers and +-1.5mm on chainline for use.
