Problem is its the top bolt hole that is stripped and that seems to be permanently fixed to the main body of the mech.

Long time since I've played with one, but iirc you rotate it (clockwise?) Then find where it pulls apart...

Bugger it, went and grabbed my xc comp.

Undo the screw stop, missed that bit, then turn it in the direction the spring wants to pull it (clockwise from front, but anti-clockwise from back how you probably are holding it), pull out when the flat you cannot see lines it.
It should all just kind of happen

If that works, I'm well annoyed. I had a mint xc pro mech aside from the cage which looked like it had been soaked in salt water. If I could have swapped the cage........

I think so as I think they where all the same. But I'll not say they will since I've not done it.

I think the main difference was the expensive sealed cartridge jokeys between the two.

Right it's apart now so I think i'll have a shot at the cage swap. No sealed bearing jockeys on either of my XC Comp mechs though, could that have been a difference between comp and pro?
