will they handle 8 speed, are they indexed?

Im torn between retro or modern ultegra/pauls 9spd thumbies atm

they are indexed and friction and have been running on the san andreas for about a month or so but used 4 or 5 times in total.ive been using them on friction so i couldnt tell u about index settings .it says 7 speed but the shifter does extend beyond the seventh click so 8th gear is attainable.i can say they were on my 8 speed shimano block with no problems at all.and i was using adurace short cage rear mech.

Hi,

Those only work in friction with shimano mechs and cogs. Though I was led to believe you could clamp the cable on the opposite side of the bolt and get them to index?

avent got a clue guv.....always preferrred to run in friction mode ..much easier to adjust for a quiet ride.

There a fair price and would do but I think I'm going to go the 9 spd pauls thumbies route and sell a set of M900 Sti's to fund them.
