Hi guys,
Just after a bit of advice on this if you'd be so kind.
I have fitted a newly acquired 1983 Suntour VX-GT rear mech to the Campag dropout on my Daccordi and was surprised to see the adjusting screw on the top pivot doesn't actually make contact with the dropout as shown below.
As you can see there is a shaped part which makes firm contact with the dropout but offers no adjustment. The 1987 Cyclone 7000 I took off has a completely different arrangement with a stop plate. Should my VX have a stop plate or is this a hybrid design which can work on different types of dropout? Judging by the photos I've found so far on the web they didn't have stop plates. I think there's enough contact there to be safe but what do you think?
On a side note, being a total geek, I weighed it as soon as it arrived this morning and was surprised by the low weight of 209g. This compares well with my 2013 Campag Veloce at 230g, the Cyclone 7000 at 223g and the bike's original Super Record at 186g. Not bad for a long arm touring mech.
Cheers,
Mark.
