Wanted SunTour parts for a 91 GT Tequesta

This came with a Claris groupset and some awful aero wheels when I got it, but the frame is in such good condition I had to have it. Bar, stem, forks, seatpost, clamp and saddle all look original. Just needs some different groupset parts and a clean.

I kind of want to take it back to catalogue spec, I'm not really sure why (ideas welcome), or how much I want it, but I'm posting this here so it must be a fair bit.

The only original groupset part it came with is the U-brake, which I'll keep, I do plan on riding this, but not through any mud

I have a UN-72 BB I'll drop in ("Sealed Mech" doesn't really tell me much) and some GT pedals that look close enough. Grips, tyres and cables will be new.

Wheels	SunTour X-1 hubs on Araya CV-7 (this seems pretty unlikely tbh) (found close enough, thanks @Gtpulse)
Cassette	SunTour Accushift 12-28t 7 spd (found close enough, thanks @Gtpulse)
Chain	SunTour AP20 Accushift
Front mech	SunTour Accushift (not much to go on here) (found, thanks @Rod_Saetan, I got the one you linked)
Rear mech	SunTour X-1 (found on ebay)
Shifters	SunTour XC-LTD Express Accushift 7 spd (found, thanks @KondratievsBike)
Chainset	SunTour/SR XCE, silver, 48/38/28 rings, black (found on ebay)
Headset	Ritchey Logic 1 1/8" black (this may be original, but no markings so I can't tell?) (I'll go with the original one)
Front brake	DiaCompe XCE cantilever (wot?) (found on ebay)
Brake levers	SunTour X-1 2 finger black (found on ebay)

I don't want to spend loads so no NOS, I will consider beat up things that can be restored.
Also interested in suggestions for suitable alternatives if I can't get these exact parts.
If this idea starts to look unrealistic, I have some period appropriate Shimano stuff I'll put on it.

Or I’ve some of those suntour wishbone under bar jobbies you could have for the cost of postage (they are pretty grotty though)

If you want the express shifters I’ll chuck the others in and you can have a play and see which you like better/ start another project

2 down... a few more to go. I've seen a few nice rear mechs and chainsets on ebay, all in the US though, even at cheap prices adding £50-60 on top for shipping and import really stings. Still hoping there are some in the UK

I'm close to a deal with a US ebay seller for most of the rest of the parts I need, but I'm now wondering about the parts I can't find so easily - hubs, cassette and chain.
I never ran SunTour stuff BITD, so I don't really know about compatibility. Obviously everything by the same manufacturer/group is the way to go, but what happens if I can't find this stuff?
Will I get away with running 7spd Shimano hubs/cassette/chain with this kit?

I'm tempted by these hubs, need to check OLN -

A cassette is proving much harder to find to find in the UK, will a Shimano cassette drop onto those hubs?
The chain is a unicorn, I can't even identify the ones I've got.

Any advice welcome, I don't want to go for this US deal if I'm actually running down a dead end.

Think I might have the brakes/wheels/chainset in the garage. I won’t get a chance to look until the weekend though.

These are the bits I’ve got. Think the XCE chainset is the later version and won’t be of use. I do have an XC Comp one but that has silver and blue rings.

The wheelset is XC Comp hubs with 7 speed Suntour cassette on 32h Sun Chinhook rims. The have the nice rubber handle Suntour QRs.

The brakes are missing 2 bolts and one of the plastic rear dust covers is broken though not noticeable.

There’s a front mech and a LTD rear mech too.

I've done the deal with the US guy on ebay, so assuming that all turns up ok, the only bits I'm missing are wheels/cassette and chain.
Your wheels look close enough to me, or, as close as I'm going to get for now. The cassette looks 12 to something, is it 28?
Let me know what you want for them

Really hoping I'm not going to run into compatibility problems, I'm not going to find the exact chain, can anyone recommend an alternative? I've seen plenty of new 7 speed chains around the place, surely there is something that will work well?

Looks like I have everything except the chain sorted now, I'm just bumping this in case anyone has any suggestions before I randomly start buying 7 speed chains
