suntour grease guard question

I've got some xc pro pedals that I want to inject with fresh grease.

Have figured out that the injection port is inside the spindle (where the threads are), but I can't tell where the old grease is supposed to come out.

The axle is hollow, with the initial exit point of the grease beyond the small outer bearing. The grease then flows back through both bearings and exits around the inboard seal of the larger inboard bearing.

Just pump the grease in, and you'll see the dirty grease oozing out around the seal. Keep pumping until the grease that oozes out is clean.

Got it. It took a good deal more grease than I had anticipated before it started oozing back out the seal. Thanks!

have a set that i'd like to service which i've not used much over the years. interested in what kind of grease should be used. as well as if I'll need a grease gun or something else to pump the grease through the axle port.

I can't see any way to do it w/o using a grease gun.

WTB used to recommend using their "Goose Grease," a white grease that contained teflon, but I'm sure any comparable grease such as Finish Line or Rock N Roll is fine.

FinishLine Teflon Grease I have is certified by WTB as grease guard blah blah... It's white and quick plastic. I assume theri formula has not changed over the 15+years so look for that.
