I assume the 4 prong tools are better than the earlier 2 prong tools, but give the threads a squirt with some penetrating oil and then hold the tool to the freewheel with a quick release skewer, with a tiny bit of slack so that the freewheel can unscrew the first quarter turn or so.
With the earlier two prong tools a tight freewheel would just break the prongs off the tool. :facepalm:
