Sunn Xircuit frame

well I believe xcircuit is tange db and not fuji sl

and I am afraid the picture of the frame ( chain stay ) looks rather worrying :?: :?
does look more than chainsuck to me but more serious stuff :?

Can you elaborate, I just took it as a deep scratch...(correct on the tubing though)

well it looks very homogenous and quite deep, that is why I was saying that, having in mind a possible "fracture" of the steel

I certainly would want a close up of that from the seller and a confirmation from him that is not structurally "dangerous"

don't want to frighten you though

I contacted the chap earlier to see if it was done in his ownership, hopefully it's just superficial :?

Look at me rushing in, wooed by his silken description...

Strange how people are so different. I wouldn't put a frame up for sale looking like that in a million years. Maybe his photo is misleading, in which case surely the obvious thing is to file down the 'scratch' which looks like a deep cut or even a fracture. If it is just a scratch, then filing it down would make the camera be kinder to it. As things stand, it looks dire.

The seller says the frame's been in his loft for 10 years and he can't remember how the scratch was caused and states it is NOT a crack, crease or fatigue...and the Tange SL is reference to the sticker that was originally on the frame...funny how he remembers that :?

Thanks for the heads up, I honestly thought it was just a scratch

Tange and Fuji are or rather were two separate steel companies, Tange never made a tubeset called Fuji. This frame is built of Fuji StoutLite, which has nothing to do with Tange. So the seller's recollection is faulty there.

His statement about the so-called scratch is all very well. If you trust eBay sellers, go right ahead, but I don't. At the moment, what he says appears to be contradicted by his photograph. That's why I suggest that the only way he can sell the frame is to file down the 'scratch' and take another photo then. If after filing, it still looks like a deep cut/fracture, then the frame is pretty much unsellable.

Oh I wasn't saying I believe him, your sleuthing has changed what I think about the listing - my knowledge of tubing is basic at best
