Yep, picked up a couple of mid 2000s zaskars for not much more than 100 before now. I suppose it depends what you want and how long you are prepared to spend looking

The looks of a GT certainly are nice. I just really liked one I saw that had a blue ano that wasn't the regular blue they use.

Other hardtails that don't look too modern might be fine...

They seem to be in the region of 250+, not exactly nothing.

Compared to a 91-97 Zaskar £250 isprobably half it’s price. And to be honest £250is the top end really of those age Zaskar if you look around.

If you don’t want to spend a lot then I suggest spending time on eBay and gumtree. But you’ll have to be patient and also be against other buyers.

How about a GT Pantera, the lower rent cousin of the Zaskar.

They go for pretty cheap like this one which looks to have sold unfortunately.

Also try your local recycling center and leave a card with one of the staff saying what you are looking for. Seen an alloy one and other decent mid range bikes stacked up in Finchley ( Summers Ln) last time i was there.

I would look for a gt avalanche cheap, looks like a zaskar and still a good frame.
