Sub £100 sat nav recommendations

just bare in mind data usage if you use your phone.

My tomtom is 64 months out of date. I use mine 5 - 7 times a day. I use Google maps if I get stuck trying to find a new build.

Fair point for some, but Navfree doesn't use any Data, it's downloaded to your phone then runs off the GPS. Power hungry, but proper free.

I used to have the previous model of this Garmin 6" which was very good (4.4 stars on amazon) - £100 from Tesco Direct at the moment: http://www.tesco.com/direct/garmin-nuvi ... rce=others The version without the lifetime map updates might be a bit cheaper but it's worth having them.

Since I started to use some of the free smartphone Sat Nav apps (I've used Waze for quite a while) I really miss the up-to-the-minute traffic data and rerouting. So nowadays I use a cheap 5" android phone with a 3 Network PAYG sim card for the 3G/4G data (1p/Mb), along with an external bluetooth GPS for a faster and more reliable satellite fix. I also have either Navfree or Here installed for when I don't have reliable 3G signal or need the traffic info, since they can be used completely offline with the full maps downloaded to the phone storage.
