STX RC chainrings

Hi all,I currently have the above crankset with 22,32,42 chainrings which are looking a bit tired especially the middle one,its a 4 bolt 64 104 bcd and I was wondering if I could go up to 28/38/48 on this crankset and if so would any chainrings with the correct bcd work thanks
Also if I cant find these or if its not possible does anyone know which chainrings will replace what I have already ie deore etc

The 4 bolt STX-RC crankset has a standard 104 bcd so any 4 bolt chainrings can replace the ones you have.

The middle and inner are steel so a modern Deore or Alivio spec chainring will be the closest equivalent.

You shouldn't have a problem fitting larger rings. You'll just have to adjust the front mech and check clearance on the chainstays.

Ive just had a chap at a shop tell me that deore 510 wont work because they are 9 speed chainrings and my drivetrain is 8 speed am I thinking correctly when I say that this shouldnt matter as the 8 speed chain is wider?

Doesn't matter at all. 9 speed chainrings will work fine with 8 speed chains.

Which shop was it.

How much you willing to pay for some rings. Might have a few new ones in a box.


In fact just been reading you Orange thread.. mate of KenG, he was after some rings but not replied to my last sent PM... some time ago.
He know where I live to, course you both have to come out riding at some point
