STX Chainsets...

Does anyone know if all STX chainsets had that dumb 'middle ring is the spider for the outer ring' setup?

I know they did when STX was first introduced ('94), but did they stick with it throughout the life of the groupset?

i think they went normal in later years

i know that by 1997, it was hard to find a pace spider for them any road.

Later ones were 'normal'.

I'm looking for some minty early ones to go with my Pace Spider

Anyone wanna hazard a guess what year they changed, or even better the part number of the first 'normal' cranks?

i'm gonna go out on a very dim memory limb and say 1996 was "normal"

MC34 in 1996 as i recall
