Stupid workshop ideas

Prompted by an image on the site today.....anybody like to share any BAD workshop ideas......you know.....storing loose old steel wheels on hooks fashioned from coke cans above your £10k bike etc etc. Real world examples......you never know people may not have considered how silly it may be!

Nailing the lids of jam jars to the bottom of a shelf and using said jars as a storage medium......last seen as a good idea circa 1944.

When something does fly off or you turn round with that bit of 2x4 in your hand, not only are you picking up 100s of screws, nuts and bolts......but doing so in amongst shards of broken glass.......

Not building it big enough......or did I just fill it with too much haha

I used to store the bikes on the ground like in a bike shop but they store much better from proper hooks from the roof joists. The faff trying to move around them was unreal

Having a lathe and a Milling machine in the garage, then trying to keep swarf off the tyres

Oh yes.....metal work and woodwork in the same shed is a really stupid idea too.

Grease on timber....ruined.

Saw dust in grease.....ruined.

At least I sent back the Oxy Acetylene kit to BOC a few years back, so not as many potential fireballs these days. House insurance company and the local firebrigade started to relax too!

I have my bike shed cum workshop, and it has grinder, pillar drill, all the toys. I keep it cleaner and tidier than the house, just as well as it has cream colour carpet.

Glass jars....lids nailed under a shelf in the background of a picture......full of nails....

I won't embarrass the owner....

The glass thing was all the rage in the 50's and 70's, not one that I followed. It was a mess waiting to happen, especially after the winter's damp had seized them up.
