Did a foolish thing despite promising wife and myself to not spend cash this month..........retro biking is a disease I cannot cure !
Bought a Specialised Stumpjumper from a bike recycling charity for £80, fully ready for the trails with a 3 month guarantee on labour and parts.
Good points are price and guarantee, bad points are cheapo mixed groupset they've built it up with but its still a Stumpjumper !
Question for you guys is approximately what year is it, no picture available as camera is not working just at the mo.
Description follows :
Black colour scheme with red decals, says specialised on top tube with Stumpjumper on down tube. Tange Chromolly badge on seat tube.
Rigid forks with 1" threaded steerer.
Frame has canti hanger on seat stays.
Front gear mech seems original and is Deore DX
Frame is 20" centre to top and top tube is 23"
2 sets of bottle mounts.
Braze ons for rack and mudguards.
Adequate clearance for 1.95" wide tyres but not much more.
Charity have built it up 21 speed with 28/38/48 chainset, 11-28 cassette, does this seem right sort of gearing for the period ?
I know you guys will know.
The bike really encourages you to go for it, head down XC style, big grins.
Cheers
