I was reminded of this thread this morning. I was queueing at traffic lights in Lancaster when a lad of about 13 or 14, in school uniform, road past me on what looked like a 1980's Claud Butler Majestic. Looked to be in very good condition too.

I suspect to these students or pupils they're just old bikes. Just like the MTB up thread is just a random old mountain bike to me as I have zero interest in MTBs.

Apparently there used to be a chemistry postgrad at the University of York who rode to campus on a mid-80s Edison 'cross bike once owned by ex-national junior champ Lee Fereday. He was occasionally known to park it in his research lab, much to the annoyance of his supervisor. Wonder what became of that bloke?
