by afford i mean i could raise the cash! toilet paper and cat food, do we really need those things?!

You could use the cat to wipe instead of toilet roll, they are self cleaning too, so you wouldn't need to wash it afterwards.
As for food, I'm sure it could find some mice if it really wanted to.
