that does indeed look cool. what does it feel and perform like? is it powerful? logic would say it would have a lot of mechanical advantage
 
There is no right and wrong way to set up up canti's. A high position give little lever movement to alot of pad movement. So more force will be required at the lever, not suitable for children then. Also if ySetting the saddle low like the OP has gives more lever movement for less pad movement. So in this case you have more mechanicla advantage.

The "90 degree position" is somewhat neutral between the two extreme's. It's all personal preferance. Given my hands are resonably strong I set them up with the straddle high on my bike and it give good mud clearance.

So to say a canti's works best when the straddle wire is perpendicular to the line of action to the pivot is only true is you define best in a particular way. Also this only applies to low profile canti's. Wide profile canti's have low mechanical leverage throughout the whole movement of the arm so a high yoke is needed in this case or you will have almost no braking power.

Canti arms which sit at 90 degree's to the vertical give a contstant mechanical advantage no matter what the yoke height.

The therory is interesting but in reality it works well, looks good and stops me putting knoblies on - win, win, win :D
