Where can I get hold of a stem reducer please?

Got a 1 1/8" quill stem I want to fit to a 1 1/4" headset

I thought I had...maybe it was just headset reducers

Oh well, guess i'll be selling the stem then

Headset reducers, like what I used in the Yeti allow you to use a 1 1/8" fork/headset/stem in a frame designed for 1 1/4". You can also get stem shims to use a 1 1/8 ahead stem on a 1" steerer but I don't think there is an insert for a steerer to use a smaller quill type stem.

Sorry buddy.

Just to clarify, we're talking about a quill stem setup here and not a threadless. That said, the shim slides into the interior of the steer tube with a lip at one end to prevent it from sliding beyond the locknut of the headset, similar to a seatpost shim. The shim takes up the difference in I.D. between 1" and 1 1/8", or in this case 1 1/8" and 1 1/4". The wedge of the quill stem when inserted and tightened then spreads against the shim and all is merry.

Did that make sense? :?

Ah! So you mean as the shim is slit down one side, the wedge not only tightens itself against the shim but actually expands the shim as well so that the shim becomes totally tight against the steerer?
