Stem not fitting steerer (Ringle Zooka - Bomber Superfly Z2)

When I fitted the headset (Chris King Nothreadset) top seal it was very tight and needed some serious coaxing to get it down the steerer which I found a bit strange, but eventually I got it into position.

Today's dilemma is that my lovely Ringle Zooka has arrived and will not fit onto the steerer at all, it is definitely 1 1/8th as it fits another pair of forks of that size

Has anyone encountered this problem with Bomber's before, I am however guessing there may not be a solution :?:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had this issue last week, not with a Ringle stem though, just a cheapy one, it went straight on with no messing on a Manitou steerer but when I changed forks for Bombers it took quite a heavy hand to get it on :?

Check to see if the radius of the steerer is the same all the way around. Is there a flat spot anywhere?

The CK upper race can tend to be a bit tight on some steerers but it will go on :?
a problem ive found on fitting stems is that if there is so much of a small burr on the lip it prevents a stem from going on
Give the top of the steerer a rub with a file to clean off anything that might be impeding it.
Spreading the slot on the stem will also help

Thanks sancho and dyna-ti, the steerer is even all round and none of the components have burrs.

Unfortunately by the nature of the Ringle Zooka it does not have a slot, it is solid all round. I may try removing the paint from the face which meets the steerer as this may give the space it needs.

Alternatively I may just stick with the Ritchey WCS stem which was temporary on my current project but looks okay....the Zooka could be an excuse to start another build

I had exactly the same problem, I gave up in the end and used a different stem :?

It would have gone on with a bit of force but I didn't chance it  all the other stems I had in the house fitted so it was the Ringle stem not the steerer in my case.
