Steelman Stage Race frame/fork/HS/stem, or complete bike for sale, 56cm.
This is a Steelman Stage Race – custom/hand built by Steelman Cycles in Redwood City California. If you don’t know who they are check out http://www.steelmancycles.com/
Steelman makes extremely high end frames that are the finest in the USA. Far better than Independent Fabrications, Seven etc – but Steelman is a much smaller outfit so doesn’t have the volume those companies have. Silicon Valley’s gazillionaires ride (and can afford) Steelman’s – see article from Fortune magazine here http://money.cnn.com/2008/03/28/lifestyle/Silicon_valley_cult_ride.fortune/index.htm
This is a 56cm frame (c-to-top) with an effective 57cm top tube (c-to-c). Although used, it is in absolutely superb condition and I love it dearly – it’s only ever been ridden on sunny, dry days - never(!) in the wet. Only reason for selling now is that I slipped 2 discs in my back last November and despite MRI scans, lengthy physio and osteopath treatment I cannot do a road position anymore. For example, on my mtb I have had to go from a 90mm stem to 50mm with 2” riser bars to put me in an almost shopping-upright position (yuck).
Frame, fork and stem alone retail for $3,050(!) – approx £1,500 at today’s exchange rate. Mine is for sale for £500 or complete Ultegra equipped bike, as pictured, for £1,000. The Ultegra kit was brand new last August (2 months before I slipped my discs).
