Dirt Disciple
Finally built the bike I wanted!
The objective was to have a steel classic-look frame with modern components. Here are the results:

overall weight is 8.2 kg
Frame and fork: De Rosa Neo Primato (with self-made sticker on a seat tube)
Wheels: Campagnolo Zonda
Groupset: Campagnolo Athena Carbon 11 speed
Brakes: Planet X CNC + Nokon outer cables
Handlebars: NoName carbon (200 g)
Stem: Ritchey Classic with carbon front plate
Seatpost: Ritchey Classic
Seat: Charge knife (215 g)
Pedals: Crank Brothers Candy 2 with ti spindles
Bottle cage: NoName titanium (27 g)

Thinking of buying 38mm carbon wheels, but not 100% sure...

Re:

That's very nice.

I have done something similar with a Rourke 853 frame and SRAM Force22 and ended up with an 8kg steel bike.

I did cheat a bit using a Mizuno carbon fork though.

Wheel wise, I did some comparisons and found that carbon clinchers ended up heavier than alloy, tubs would be a different matter. I had my wheels had built by Malcolm at The Cycle Clinic, and managed to get them just a touch over 1500g the pair... every little helps.

I like retromod type builds, I think you end up with the best of both worlds.

Re:

Cheers mate :D
Agree with your thought re retromod or neoclassic.

I found 38 mm carbon clinchers which are 1300 g - so thinking of buying those.
