Got this today from him:
Hi Nik, Sorry I've been late getting back to you, I've been working away. I recently sold another bike which was picked up by the father of the guy that won it. Now after receiving the bike he isnt happy with it and we are in a dispute. Therefore I would prefer you to inspect the bike first and pick it up so that there are no issues with the sale of the bike. Please understand this has no reflection on you, but after this experience its tought me a lesson. If you cant pick it up your welcome to cancel the transaction and I will leave you positive feedback. Please let me know what you intend on doing. Sorry again for this and I hope you understand.

bit of a fundamental problem with ebay, isnt it, worst you can do is negative feedback him. i do appreciate your pov tho, at least hes bothered to think of an excuse hehe.
maybe call his bluff, tell him you will be round later today, see what he says to that. at least you can dick him around a bit back by making appointments youre not gonna keep

I did think about making him sweat a bit, but frankly I can't be arsed. Plus I should be spending all my spare time in the garage sorting out all the bike stuff I've bought recently!

Trouble is people like him will still show 100% feedback...if he is now unwilling to have you arrange a courier to collect it he should receive negative feedback.
