sram x9 x0 how good is it ?

Im happy with my x9 shifters ,x9 front and xo rear set up.
Will say keep the tension on the front mechs cable lower that normal or it tends to be a stiff shift.

I'd say shimano has a far lighter action :?

I like the stiff non bounce action of the sram rear mechs. The tests ive seen of them working side by side over the same terrain shows the shimano bouncing up and down so the chain really jumps about compared to the sram which stays rock steady and has a far less affect on the chains movement

Much as I love SRAM I don't rate their front mechs. I run XT and XTR front mechs and they definitely shift better.

I'd agree with that too, I always stuck to an XT front mech because it just seemed to work better. I've always run Shimano cassettes too (although the one Sram cassette I had lasted ages and shifted pretty well). Always use Sram chains...I had Shimano chains a long, long time ago and they were rubbish so switched to Sachs which were ace and became Sram so stuck with them.

I just got an XT 11-36 ten speed cassette because I preferred the ratios when compared with the SRAM equivalent. See how it goes cos it was around 08 I last bought a Shimano unit. Will be run with an X0 ten speed mech and a KMC chain.

does an xt xtr front mech work well with a sram shifter though ? i allways thought and have been told that the sram shifters pull cable at a quicker rate than shimano thats why they are not compatible :?

It's only the rear mech cable pull that is different, front mechs are the same from both.

As above Shimano front mechs work a charm with an SRAM shifter and in my opinion better than an SRAM front mech.

If you really want to mix, there are quite a few people running Zee clutch mechs with 9 speed Sram shifters with the aid of a small spacer between the mech and the frame.

I've never quite understood how Sram have made such a hash if front mechs.

i couldnt get the link to work, but get the jist with the sram/ shimano mix it up 8) well the x9 shifters and xo rear mech have turned up so now all thats left is the front mech 9 speed cassett and a chain to find for the drive to be complete :D
