I replaced the chain on my bike and now it skips on one sprocket. Upon inspecting the cassette I can see the that the second smallest sprocket, 13 teeth, is quite badly worn, but all the others look pretty good. I was thinking that I could just replace the smallest two sprockets, the 11 and 13 toothed ones, that are separate from the rest of the cassette, but I can't find them sold separately anywhere.

Does anyone know where I can find SRAM sprockets sold separately?

Alternatively, does anyone know whether I could use a Shimano sprocket, like this one: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/src/froo...ocket-for-9-Speed-Cassette-1ZA-1345-15825.htm with an SRAM cassette.

i think its cheaper to just buy a whole cassette
i dont see why the shimano bits wouldnt match (as long as the spacing is the same)

Not if you take into account the urge to upgrade at the same time. :D

Shimano XT or SRAM PG980?

You could just ride it until the chain stops slipping? As the chain will bed in slowly. SRAM every time 8)

Thanks for the link, saddly no SRAM parts, but about the best price I've found for an XT cassette so I've bookmarked it. :)

when changing a chain , it is best to replace cassette too .

I have just changed my chain , did not bother with cassette , and it slips on 2 brackets , so bought a cassette too .

Agreed, but it's always the smallest 2 or 3 cogs that have the most wear as the load is concentrated on fewer teeth. I thought that part of the reason the smallest coges were separate to the main cassette body was so they could be easily replaced. Also, if you change your chain before it gets too stretched it makes the cassette cogs an chainrings last much longer.

I didn't keep a close eye on the chain and it stretched quicker and more than I expected. I've bought a chain wear indicator tool now, to make checking it a lot quicker and easier.
