I would say yes, ok, no problems. My Avalanche runs X-7 shifters, with an X-9 rear mech, Shimano Mega9 (Deore) crankset and LX front mech. Silky smooth shifting so far

i thought shimano was 1:1 and sram 1:2 or have i got this wrong

shimano is usually 2:1 and sram usually 1:1 (it's usually labelled on the item).

These should work with Shimano.

okay thanks... sorry can i just check....... does it work like this, with shimano for every 2mm you press the shifter it moves 1mm of cable ?

Compat

Complex the mixes between the two, but Sram "MRX" and "Attak" will index Shimano rear mechs, the numbered ones X3 X5 X7 X9 X0 or 5.0 7.0 9.0 will only index with Sram mechs. The early ESP Sram(just post gripshift) are 2:1 so need Shimano shifters or their own dedicated 2:1 However! I would say that the Shimano shifters still work loads better with Shimano mechs anyway and thre Attak shifters are not the best engineered Sram ones and a bit clunky.

cheers mr wold ranger,

i didnt realise you have turned in to yoda

"Complex the mixes between the two"

anyway thanks i think i get it now, i think.......... basically i shouldnt buy them for my girlfriends bike then ! . i will find some shimano ones.

cheers

You can mix front mechs and shifters from sram and shimano as you like. Both shimano and sram have a 2:1 ratio on the front...

Mechs

Always best to stick within makes tho' as I've found over time. The Sram stuff has the edge over Shimano on weight and looks maybe, but Shimano is a lot tougher and lasts far longer.
