Squeezed off the road.

I emailed the police at the weekend and they rang me twice on Sunday.

They can't view the video as yet due to website restrictions, but will have a look maybe today and get back to me.

I gave a verbal report but told them that they need to see the video to get the full picture. They are taking it seriously which is nice.

So you see, the £2000 council tax is not ALL wasted.

I'm glad you took action and that the Police are taking it seriously! Hopefully they will find the driver and give him a ticking off, maybe even show the video so he can see the consequences of his actions!

Keep us posted

glad you are alright man

everyone should have to ride a bike on a busy street as part of the driving test, that would maybe install some consideration for the 2 wheelers out there. Hope you get some action on this.

5 minutes I got in from work today I got a visit from the Police. Nice guy with a very unbiased opinion, didn't give any comment either way, just quoted the highway code notes someone in traffic had given him.

He had a look at the video and said that policy is not to prosectue where there is only one complaint. He will visit Gorretts and bring up the incident (without showing any footage - he declined a burnt CD copy) and let me know what they say either tomorrow or Wednesday.

I'll let you know.

Thats some fast work there by the Police. I always doubted they will prosecute at all, but I think the visit and talking to will stun that driver, maybe he will realise that you never know who is watching / filming and you shouldn't take risks like that, it is his livelyhood to be able to drive, so maybe he'll think twice next time he tries to do anything similar!

If you get me the raw footage off the camera (just the truck section), I can look at the frames individually and hopefully process them enough to read the numberplate. Maybe worth a try.

I've had a look myself (not with any fancy software mind) but I think that the resolution of the camera and the fact that the camera was moving the whole time means that It's not quite destinct enough to give a positive plate reading.
I'll see what the officer has to say about their whole attitude when he comes back to me after seeing them and see what I think is best to do then.

Thanks for the offer though.

Yes, interested to hear what happened.

My wife and I are always considering mounting a camera in the rear of our car for when we go to visit friends/family 100 miles away. We get sick of poor driving and tailgating on the A15/17/47. Does make you wonder if the Police would be interested though :?

Love the shout of 'Banker' at 1min on the video!
