Spotted on the street

it seems locks are useless, no
I’m guessing if you go with the kryptonite D locks then at least a thief needs an angle grinder which attracts noise in a public space & theives don’t like to be seen making noises in the most part

Although I’d bet that any scrote would probably go for the Planet X bike that shared the cable locks as it would attract less attention when it appeared on whichever selling site they use.

Not sure, you know!

I once left my Specialized Hardrock outside a retail park in the middle of the day. Went in the shop only to come out and realise the lock key had fallen off my main set of house keys etc. I got the train home to look for the spare which wasn’t there and had to make the decision to visit screwfix and buy a junior hacksaw before it closed.

Baring in mind this was the in middle of the day, only 3 people stopped me mid act. One jokingly asked if I was getting a new bike, one asked what I was doing, and the last offered to get his angle grinder out of the van to help me out. And no, he did not ask whether the bike was mine or not before offering to help…

Was quite a shocking event really

The owner was just going into a shop, so hopefully it wasn’t too risky. Although it’s true I’d be nervous locking that anywhere myself.
My first thought would’ve been “Nope not locking it up. Can’t risk the paint” - case closed. Wouldn’t even have gone on to think about whether it might get stolen as that’s too far down the line 😁

He’d have taken your bike in a swap with his worn out noisy old grinder 😃
