Also bear in mind cheap nipples distort very easily at the tensions you should be using which is why some (not all though) cheap wheel sets run lower tensions than they should.

Which explains why a lot of them buckle when pumped up!

you get what you pay for with spokes to cheap you get pooh quality the same with choosing a wheel builder go with any old dick and harry thats cheap and then compare the build done with that of a good builders wheel and then again 10 years later and see how they compare thats if the cheaper one is still around

Ha!

I'm looking at buying the spokes and nipples and doing it myself now, I've been using this http://lenni.info/edd/ spoke calculator but I have a couple of questions (I've got a set of 32h Deore DX hubs and XM317 rims coming... hopefully (it's my birthday present!))

1. It doesn't have Deore DX front hubs, is there another Shimano hub of a similar size?
2. The rear Deore DX hubs shows two different sizes (265.4 & 263.6) for the rims I'll hopefully be using (Mavic XM317) Which size spoke shall I get for either - Would one length do both?

It's for my Kona which will be on trailer duties so no gnarly downhill action, although I will be going for DT PG spokes (Cheap!)
