Hiya,

I am about to have a Ringle front Superbubba and rear Super-8 laced to a pair of modern Mavic XC717 rims with standard 3-cross lacing.

Can anyone help with working out the correct spoke lengths I need please. And, also of any websites that do cheap DT Swiss spokes.

Many thanks.

Use this one:

http://www.sheldonbrown.com/rinard/spocalc.htm

Spocalc has all the dimensions of retro rims and hubs already plugged in. It is a bit clunky and you have to read the instructions (especially about how to use the Tools function), it does only work on retro Excel, but other than that it's great!

Spocalc works with modern 2007 excel as well, you just have to enable macro (for the easy input of hub/rim measurements) the menu names get doubled up though.

Though use http://lenni.info/edd/ as it's Spocalc put online, if the measurments for the hubs are not on either hit the help part there it will tell you how to take them (quite easy and you can then send them to him to add to the database, I've added a few)

CRC often has the cheapest DT spokes as you can request half and half sizes (good for back wheel)

So looks like 48 x 264's and 16 x 262's from this calculator

I owe FluffyChicken a pint for that, thank you very very much indeed.

Double check it. Possibly try it on a few calcs as well just to get a feel for what's happening.

Though since rear hub measurements don't alter much (for none disc or exotic flanges), the lengths are pretty much the same. 262/264 is what you would use with Shimano's normal rear hubs (e.g. old M900 or new M770, Hope Ti-Glide also when matched to the XC717 rim.

Have double checked and it comes up more or less the same..... so with pure naivety speaking, what specific spoke lengths do I need to order taking Fluffy's spoke length calculations?
