Spinning bottom bracket cup

Looking for some help with a difficult bottom bracket in an old Marin frame.

The non drive side and bottom bracket came out without a problem, however the drive side cup is spinning in the frame and will not budge.

Any tips for its removal?

For reference, this was a Shimano UN71.

try pushing it from the non-drive side as you turn it. you may need two people for this

i'd be worried about the state of the threads....

remember the drive side is left hand thread.

if you do not have a second persion to help, place a block of wood on the ground, rest the LH side of the axle on the block and push on frame whilst undoing the cup.

if you do not have a block of wood, then you are stuffed.

The threads must be knackered, annoying as I've just bought a hope ti for it.

The cup spins freely in both directions...

Placed a hammer in a vice, used it to press upwards on the cup while I unscrewed it.

All out ok.

Oddly, shimano BB's thread back in fine but the hope one will not bite. Going to get the threads redone.

I don't think that will really help, as getting it tapped removes metal not adds it.
