I've got an idea that has sort of evolved in my head for a bit that has to do with the international nature of the board as well as all of our diverse interests... It is based on three events....
First, Marin Man has a 'guess the weight of my bike' thread, in which I win some cool ti bolts and a handful of stickers and the socks straight off his feet. I think its such a cool thing that some guy thousands of miles away sends me stuff on a friendly lark like that so...
...(second event) I turn right around and send him a pair of socks from my local shop and some stickers and stuff from the local trails here on the eastern coast of the states where I hang out and ride. Now he gets that same wacky surprise package that I got to enjoy!
And third and final event...GT Steve expresses his undying fascination in McMahon Cycles, a company I was never particularly in love with in the day, but one that did pass out schwag at the bike shows, so I pass the schwag on to him. He'll dig it, and I don't really need to keep it so...win win!
So that got me to thinking. We've all seen these conversations that get brandied about, discussing who likes what and who needs what for what build, and I know you guys that are local to one another do this sort of thing anyway, but why not extend it worldwide?
Let's swap schwag packages! If you see a thread with a guy talking about one of his passions and you've got a part/sticker/shirt just sitting around that you know he'd get a kick out of, then why not fire it off to him? PM for an address and put it in the post. I think GT Steve thought I was kidding at first!
But I'm serious... Lets have some camraderie and swap some schwag!
So...This thread launches the Schwag Pay It Forward... If you get something in the mail, then you have to send something of like coolness factor to another on the board that you think would dig whatever you have to send. Try to send it as far away as possible to keep it more fun. Take pictures of your recieved freebie and post it here!
Lets make this a thread that lasts longer than "Ebay Madness"! What do you think?
I'll go first!
From Marin Man in the UK to me in Florida USA...
