SPECIALIZED ROCKHOPPER 1990 - First rebuild, can you help?

Retro Newbie
Could anyone give me anymore information on this Rockhopper Sport? Got it as a project bike in this condition last week with some nice parts. The bike itself I think is a 1990 although I am not sure on the exact origin as I have seen one in the same colourway without the American flag on the frame. It’s quite rusty but I’m really keen to just tidy the scabs and worst points instead of respray to preserve its original charm. First vintage rebuild for me s if anyone has worked on a Rockhopper like this before all advice is welcome and appreciated. I was wondering if anyone could help me on the stickers as well? The “I.D” one and also the Red cartoon face. Thanks in advance.

The face is the Angry Orange bikes logo and the ID was an importer or shop, cant remember now, sure someone will clarify.

ID is Ison Distribution. Sells parts to bike shops. They are based not too far from me.

They import stuff, re label it often as their own, then sell to shops.

These are fun bikes. I just picked up a 91 Stumpjumper and a 94 Hardrock Ultra to restore. They are great way to learn how to build a bike. Very basic.

Nice project btw. Obviously been updated at points, but a fine start.
Thank you - there’s been a bunch of updates but from what I can gather original wheels, rear derailleur and stem, keen to take it back to its original style a bit while making something fun to ride.

Oh, I quite like this!

Think you'll have some fun building it up.

If the rebuild includes replacing the brakes and you're looking to move them on, let me know, I might be keen!

Cheers, been a long time coming have just struggled to find a rockhopper local in my size. Yeah the breaks are up for grabs if you are interested - had a bit of interest already. Johnny T Tomac ones from 1997 (I think).

Thanks for this. I actually have an old friend who is from Ely where they are based.
