Spacers under bottom race

Hi all,

Bit of an odd on for you.

Any reason not to put 1 1/8 spacers between fork crown and bottom headset race, to keep head angle same with a low a-c height fork for the frame.

Instinctively it feels wrong/dangerous, but assuming enough mating surface on the crown, it also seems to be just putting that spacing elsewhere in the same stack. Albeit loading of the frame bearing on it.

The crown race wouldn’t sit correctly as steerer is slightly narrower

You can buy extended crown races, or if you could shim the diameter of the steerer higher up then that could potentially work.
