il have one soon matey as iv'e just got one through the post with another on the way the one iv'e got now is an xt m737 but its 170mm arms and looks used, tapers are good it just looks shabby if the sugino one i have coming is better (i hope as this bike is a posser) you can have the xt for £20 posted matey if not il have a sugino for £15 hows that best regard s from dan

thanks but I'm really looking for a 10 spd Shimano chainset.the xt m737 is an 8 spd MTB I believe .I have a good quality ultegra 600 chainset on the bike at the moment and I'm looking to upgrade to something more modern looking

no matey as there are several types of compact chainset in the shimano group lines some mtb some road plus arm length and ring size say 52/39 or 52/42 i know as my shop is a shimano service centre plus and incompatible group parts are commen where people just assume everyone will know what they want

listen I ain't your mate ok and 52x42 isn't a compact ,its an old obsolete chainset that hasn't been sold for donkeys years !
50x39 doesn't exist
shimano compact chainsets are 50x34 or occasionally 50x36

I deliberately didn't specify particulars as I didn't want to narrow the choice too much .
Now as we've both f****d this thread up I'll start another

they still do those sizes and i was trying to help if you had asked with a little more detail id have seen what i could get from madison for you or from the local road club as two of the guys change groups yearly :roll: :roll:but as im not your mate i wont bother
