Sorry bit modern. Shimano SPDR pedal advice needed.

Can anybody tell me how i can slacken off the pedals grip on the cleat slightly?
They are great pedals with a really positive engagement, but its a bit too positve on my cx bike and i've now had 3 tumbles

My SPD's have a screw slot with a "+" and a "-" which adjusts the grip of the cleats. Not sure which ones you have though ?

SPR-R pedals have an adjustment allen screw at the rear of the pedal, clockwise to increase release pressure, anti to reduce.
Surprised your using SPD-R on a cross bike as there single sided, sure there not spd double sided ? these have a adjustment screw for each side of the pedal.

I'll be honest, she doesn't get used in anger as a CX bike. I mostly use her on a local loop which is light off road linked by big bits of tarmac for which she is perfect
