Damn and blast...they're hurting again....shooting pains down and over the knees. Just hit a few hills on the road and prefer to dump down a high gear and mash it up...attack attack etc
Guess I should spin more :(

I get lateral pain on mine sometimes, especially after twisty MTB stuff and then the day after on the roads. I found backing off the cleat tension on my road bike helped a lot, more float I guess for the knees rather than concentrating one motion.

I was out of action for a week last time I really twisted a knee, stupidly did a 25mile road run the following day and thought I'd fight on. 11 miles back I had to cycle with one leg, pulling up the SPDs to pedal.

Rest is all, and maybe frozen peas.

Mr Burgundy I would seriously recommend getting your GP to refer you to the Spire Hospital in Cardiff.

I suffered with my right knee for years, used to have to dose up on the Ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory pills. I ended up being diagnosed with Chondromalacia Patellae. My knee cap was slightly out of alignment and was treated by some minor key-hole surgery. Basically I had my damaged cartilage shaved off. If you are suffering from pain I would highly recommend getting someone to see it. If it is cartilage problems get it sorted NOW before signs of arthritis start showing. My consultant told me how common this problem is and that he is amazed that people put up with pain that could be sorted with simple surgery and more importantly will keep them more active and prevent the onset of arthritic joints as they age.

I've had knee problems and booked myself into a local private physio clinic. It's been very helpful to look at how my knees were working and an exercise programme to develop better balance in my muscles. After 2 months results look promising.

I put mine down to 'Ravers Knee'.
1999, Es Paradis Ibiza, throwing some twisty shapes while not in any state of physical control, 8 hrs later, trouble walking back to the apartment, couple of hours after than knee the size of a melon!

It flairs up every couple of years with some punishment.

I'm starting to think my knees are knackered, started having issues when I first got my road bike but its now on either mtb or road. Can get pretty painful sharp pains in the centre of the knee cap as if its going to pop.

I swear by Glucosamine Sulphate..

I use the Tesco's own brand, 1000 mg a day. It takes about 6 weeks to get into the system, but once its there it works by lubricating the joint and stops all the creaks and crunches when bending down and peddaling hard.....Ive been using it now for about 5 years and its extended my football lifespan
