Someone to Renickel plate my P7

Good evening everybody
So, after owning a 96' nickel finish P7 from new it's time to do the right thing and bring it back up to scratch.
I've cleaned up all the frame corrosion with silver foil, Autosol and elbow grease and the frame has come up great but has left pitting which I'm not happy about.
I'm taking the plunge and want to get the frame replated but after contacting over a dozen different companies (including Orange) I've had no look finding anyone who are willing to take on the work.
Have any of you had any nickel plating done in the last couple of months and can recommend anyone?
Cheers
Andy

Re:

I had the same problem with my 92 Marin Team Issue frame.

In the end , I decided to have it powder coated in 'bright silver' which is a pretty good facsimile of nickel plating.

However , upon seeing it , they couldn't do it as it had a little dent that needed filling and they were afraid that the filler would 'pop' when they baked the powdercoat. So in the end I just painted it.

Don't know where you are based , but BJV engineering in Herts will powdercoat it in this bright silver ( they are predominantly alloy wheel refurbers but will do frames and can get the shiny finish from the powdercoating.

Look at their speciality finishes page to see the chrome finish coatings.

Thanks Mr Toad
To be honest I never thought of this route, but I was going to get the frame clear coated by our local VW restoration man who also has a alloy wheel refurbing business. Best have a chat with him.

Re:

It's Not worth the effort the existing nickel has to be removed then the steel polished to perfection then you can get it plated for around £100 .The time and labour will be the killer here though.

Re:

I was quoted £60/70 to blast , dip and then powdercoat my frame if thats any help :)

They'd do it when they were doing that finish on a set of wheels , so i guess that keeps costs down.

Captain Cosmic
£40 for powder coat or nickel plating and do you have a contact number?
Agreed, nickel is still my first option.

Hi, I'm new on here and I have a 1997 P7 myself which I am thinking of restoring. Anyway someone at work had their P7 frame done by Argos cycles in Bristol and had also used Bob Jackson Cycles in Leeds for another bike. So you could try these two.
