what kind of weight is it then? i was looking for a hardtail but may consider this... are they nice to ride?

They are very nice to ride so ive been told. this frameset is nos.
I rode a ritchey st for a few years and it was lovely.

As for the weight i have never weighed it but i bet its not much over four and a half pounds.
