This is a sweeping generalization but..........was on a course today where most of the people were social workers...........jeez what a load of wishy washy crap, they kept going on how who's responsibility it was when things go wrong, buck passing guess mongers ( not all, but these were)

Left me with the feeling that social services have a long way to go :(

The problem with Social Work is it attracts the wrong people.

Many are looking for the approval they never got as children; and the kudos for doing a job so many 'couldn't do'...

They rest firmly on their laurels rather than challenging their inadequacies.

What we need are more of those who thought it was a job they couldn't possibly do, and less of those who really cannot do the job but don't realise it.

Sorry got to agree, from my personal experience of them they should collectively take their guardian reading backsides and sod off.

Will interfere where unnecessary and disrupt family lives, yet in true dire cases of something needing being done they will sit on their hands and/or stand back.

I come under the Social Work umbrella but Im not a Social Worker, SW are so fcuked up its like the lunatics in charge of the asylum and their supposed to be sorting peoples problems out HA! I know a small team of 12 SW who at the moment have 8 SW off with stress thats right 8 out of 12 are off work at the moment. This isn't hearsay its a fact :?

I came to the conclusion also that these jobs attract the wrong types.. ''fixers''..people who are trying to cover up /ignore their own past by helping others.

Very true.

People who are unable to confront their own issues are the last we need responsible for confronting the issues of others, especially the vulnerable.

I went out with one for a while a few years ago, and she had more issues than the kids she was supposed to be helping! Seriously dysfunctional family too - mother, father, brother and sister - all mad as cheese!
